The Town of Whitby is celebrating public art, environmental conservation, and recognizing its status as a Bee City by transforming a 100-year-old black walnut tree into a public art installation in advance of World Bee Day on May 20.
The Town commissioned tree carver Ryan Locke, known by his Instagram handle @thetimberripper, to bring his expertise and passion for woodworking to the endeavor.

The Town of Whitby is working on a new by-law to guide the use of micromobility devices in the community. Micromobility describes small, compact, low-speed vehicles that are lighter weight than cars, which can include e-scooters, e-bikes, and other similar devices.
Through a new by-law, the Town aims to define which types of micromobility are allowed to be used and where within the Town's transportation network, including roads, sidewalks, paths, and trails.

In the lead up to Mother's Day this weekend, we have exciting news from Town Hall! 'Whitley' the mother goose who chose Town Hall as her nesting location hatched what appears to be five new goslings around 6 a.m. this morning.
The Town is now in the process of contacting the Whitby prize pack winners who correctly guessed today as the due date. Thank you to the more than 200 people who took part in the contest.
