Take a step back in time and learn about the Town's multicultural heritage and hidden architectural gems. Heritage Day This is the largest one-day event held in the historic downtown. The event encourages the promotion and preservation of the Town's significant historic, architectural, natural, and scenic heritage. Heritage Day brings together residents, visitors, and merchants to experience a taste of Whitby's past, present, and future.
Discover some of the architectural treasures in our neighbourhoods, and enjoy a wide range of re-enactments and activities that bring to life local history and culture. Experience a heritage wagon tour through Whitby's historic residential area and visit the antique mercantile, blacksmith, and woodcarvers. Sample culinary delicacies at the Annual Food Festival, promoting our local restaurants, their entrée creations and specialties. Farmers' Market vendors trim the streets with their wide array of sweets, fall vegetables, and decorations. Local musicians provide entertainment throughout the day. Pony rides, face painting, games, crafts, heritage displays, and demonstrations ensure visitors of all ages enjoy the festivities and discover the Town's historical roots.
