Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy has issued the following statement on Council's decision to terminate the Highway 7/12 EA:
“On June 19, Whitby Council voted to terminate the environmental assessment for the Highway 7/12 alternative route.
This decision was not made lightly and was the result of concerns about the financial impact of the project on Whitby taxpayers and the environmental impact of a preferred route that would cut through the Oak Ridges Moraine.
I am confident that we can find solutions...
