Community grants and Lead Cause grants available for local causes
The Town is inviting local community and non-profit organizations that contribute to Whitby as a vibrant and caring community to apply for the Town’s 2022 Community Development Grant Programs.
Application deadlines for the Town’s 2022 Lead Cause grants (each up to $25,000) are as follows:- Mayor’s Fundraiser due by October 31, 2021
- Mayor’s Golf Tournament due by March 31, 2022

Proof of Vaccination to be Required to Enter Town Recreation Facilities Starting September 22

Proof required for those age 12 years old and up
The Town of Whitby is advising residents that effective Wednesday, September 22, 2021, proof of vaccination will be required to enter the following Town facilities as part of Ontario’s Proof of Vaccination Policy:
- Iroquois Park Sports Centre
- Brooklin Community Centre (excluding the Brooklin Branch of the Public Library)
- McKinney Centre
- Luther Vipond Arena
- Whitby Civic Recreation Complex
- Whitby 55+ Centre

Reminder: Final Tax Bill for 2021 Due on September 24

Residents are reminded that the final instalment of the 2021 Final Tax Billing is due on Friday, September 24, 2021. This billing applies to all residential, farmland, pipeline and managed forest properties.
The final tax bills were mailed to property owners the last week of May 2021. If you did not receive a tax bill and you are responsible for payment, please contact the Tax Division at 905.430.4304 or 905.668.5803 to obtain the necessary information.

Town of Whitby Preparing COVID-19 Vaccination Policy

The Town of Whitby is currently in the process of finalizing a mandatory vaccination policy in an effort to better protect the health and safety of our staff and our residents. Under this policy, all Whitby staff will be required to demonstrate proof of full vaccination or regular rapid antigen testing, among other things. Mayor and Council Take Electric Vehicles for a Spin

This week, Mayor Don Mitchell and Whitby Town Council attended the Mobile Electric Vehicle Education Trailer (MEET) Whitby kick-off, where they test-drove electric cars.
The Regional Municipality of Durham, Oshawa Power and Elexicon Energy partnered on the region-wide zero emission vehicle (ZEV) education and awareness initiative called E-Mission. It was partially funded by Natural Resources Canada.
