55+ Recreation - Keeping you connected, active and engaged!

The Town of Whitby is part of the World Health Organization (WHO) Global Network of Age-Friendly Cities and Communities. As an age-friendly community, we are committed to providing supportive physical and social environments for older people.

Whitby 55+ Recreation offers programs for adults aged 55+ to learn, connect, and have fun. Choose from various activities like fitness programs, social events, and seminars. Memberships

At 55+ Recreation, our purpose is to enhance the quality of life for people 55 years of age and older through recreational programs, classes, services and volunteer opportunities.

Benefits Of Membership

A variety of drop-in recreation programs such as Bingo, Cards, Darts and Scrabble,
Reasonably priced, adult 55+ focused courses in fitness, creative arts, dance, computers and general interest programs,
Wellness and lifestyle programs,
Special events throughout the year,
Mingles, the on-site café with hot meals for purchase,
Lounge with two computers and printers, lending library of books and puzzles, all free for use,
55+ Recreation newsletters and weekly emails with up-to-date local information, and
Volunteer opportunities.

Current Membership Rates

To take advantage of all we offer, a Membership is required. The current rates for a one-year Membership are:

$22.86 (plus HST) per year for both Whitby residents and non-residents aged 55 - 89
Memberships are free for residents aged 90 and up

How To Become A Member

Attend in person at any Whitby recreation centre, complete the application form and pay the specified fee, or;
Complete an on-line membership application and payment through our recreation program portal. This will require creating an online account.

Subsidized Programs

We offer subsidized programs to low income Whitby residents for recreation programs. For more details about the subsidy programs the Town offers please go to whitby.ca/subsidy.
