The Town of Whitby is committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming environment for all residents and visitors. They offer various services and programs, including accessible parking, snow removal, recreation services, and property tax relief programs. Additionally, the Accessibility Grant provides financial assistance for accessibility improvements.

Accessibility Improvement Grants

Grants for non-profits & businesses to improve accessibility.

Funded by Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) operating in Whitby, this grant provides matching dollars for accessibility projects. Three streams:

Lead Project Grant (up to $10,000): One impactful project.
Small Project Grants (up to $5,000): Smaller accessibility initiatives.
Educational Awareness Grant (up to $2,000): Raise awareness in schools.

Parking and transit

Accessible parking spaces are located throughout the Town of Whitby in municipal parking lots. Vehicles displaying a valid accessible permit get free parking in municipal lots and at street meters. You can also public transit options to help you get around.

Snow and windrow clearing services

We provide snow removal and windrow clearing services for residents with a disability or who are over the age of 65, who have no able-bodied person under 65 living with them.
