There are three easy steps to become a volunteer:
Event volunteer requirements |
If you want to become a volunteer with us, you are required to:
|
Training and orientation |
If you plan on volunteering with us, you must attend a mandatory volunteer training workshop. Event and site specific training will take place the day of the event, including onsite orientation. In addition, as part of our commitment to accessibility, you must read the Accessibility Standards Training Guide and complete a short quiz related to their training. You will receive these documents during training. |
Time commitments |
We are committed to finding the right volunteer experience to match your interests. The average volunteer time commitment per event is between 3.5 hours and 8 hours. |
Volunteering with us |
When you volunteer with us, you gain valuable new skills, make connections and contribute to our community. You will join our strong and enthusiastic community of volunteers that are a pillar of our vibrant, active and welcoming community. Collectively, our event volunteers dedicate close to 1000+ hours of their time at events that attract over 75,000 people. Whitby's Event Volunteer Program is also recognized by the 2020 Festivals and Events Ontario as the best in Ontario. We invite new and returning volunteers to be a part of something fun, inspiring and engaging. We value volunteers and are committed to supporting your success. |
Event volunteer program and strategy |
To ensure that the volunteer experience is meaningful, accessible, and seamless, we developed a program and strategic framework for how we attract, retain, support, recognize and celebrate our event volunteers. We believe our Event Volunteer Strategy is a critical element in planning for the long-term health and well-being of our community.
