Meet Beethoven [5698A]
Beethoven is a 2 year old St.Bernard that was found as a stray and never claimed. Sitting at 115lbs, Beethoven is quite the strong pup. He doesn't quite understand being on a leash and was likely use to roaming a rural property. We would like to find Beethoven another property or livestock herd to manage. He seems to be okay with dogs his size. Although he can be shy at first, Beethoven quickly warms up and especially loves being spoken to like a baby. He has a big bark and often warns us when someone is pulling into the shelter, he would be a great addition to any farm! Beethoven has been neutered, vaccinated, dewormed and microchipped. Meet Luca [5532]
Luca is a 1.5 year old Australian Shep x that was surrendered to Team Chelsea in severe pain due to a mass growing on his neck. Luckily for Luca, TC took him in right away to receive treatment for his injuries - and today he stands pain free, stitched up and ready for love! Luca does well with children and cats but prefers to be the only dog in the home. He is a high energy breed that will need a lot of stimulation, so an active home would be ideal. Luca is eager to please, which is a good thing because he is still a puppy and has a lot to learn! Luca has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Hammer is a 3 year old cat that was found as a stray and never claimed. He is a handsome big boy that loves attention! He would do best in a home with older children as he will give love bites from time to time if over stimulated. Hammer is a tough guy, and sometimes forgets his size - still playing and running around like a kitten! Hammer has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Meet Rhonda [5182A]
Mama is a 2 year old cat that was found with her kittens earlier this year. She has been a surrogate mom to 9 additional kittens during her stay with us and without her help those kittens would not have had such an amazing start to their lives! We would love to place this sweet girl in a quiet home where she can now soak up all of the attention she deserves! Although she can by shy with strangers, Mama does warm up - especially with some convincing if you have a churu treat in hand! Mama has been spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Meet Louie [5521]
Louie is a 10 month old doberman x that was surrendered by his previous family who no longer had time for him. This handsome boy is shy at first, but once he gets to know you his personality will shine. He seems to be good with dogs his size, has been around kids and really loves running laps in the backyard - so an active household would be ideal! Louie is still a pup and has not had much training, so an owner with previous big dog experience - and the time to work with him is a must. Pumpkin is a 10 month old kitten that was taken from an abuse case in the hopes of finding an amazing forever home. Pumpkin was very shy on arrival, curled up in a ball for weeks. With some patience, churus and TLC Pumpkin has turned a leaf and is coming around! She enjoys being pet and will even drool now looking for more! Momsy is a 2 year old domestic cat that was found as a stray and never claimed. She is a friendly girl that enjoys the quieter moments in life. Momsy can be apprehensive at times, but once she is comfortable you will find her at your feet, hoping to be in the know and following you around. Meet Frank & Fred [5734B&C]
These handsome boys came to us from the Province from a neglect case they were investigating. These boys were terrified upon arrival and often escaped their cage trying to climb the rafters in the shelter - even with padlocks! We have had them for quite some time now - and what a difference. They are both lovers, looking for all of the pets and head butts, Frank and Fred just cant get enough! We would like to place them in a home together with no other cats - somewhere where they can finally be someones main attention and given a life they so deserve. Meet Boo & Chip [2329]
Boo and Chip are 3.5 year old dwarf bunnies that were surrendered by their previous loving home. These buns are very friendly and have been pre loved - looking for another lap to cuddle up to! Their favorite veggie is brussel sprouts but they wont turn down a snack - ever! They would do great as a pair, or separate as long as they are getting attention from their new family! Jinx is a 3 year old domestic cat that was surrendered by his previous home due to allergies. This big boy would love to be the only cat in his new home, a home where he demands all of the love! He loves to play and will have to go home with a laser, he is obsessed with the chase! Jinx has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and dewormed. Ford is a very social 1 year old gerbil looking for another friend or pack to join! He is a friendly guy that is always looking for a snack! Tanker is a 2 year old cat that was found as a stray and never claimed. He is a talker, and will get the other cats going -all of them requesting some more temptation treats! So we love the choir he starts for us. Tanker was very scared on arrival but is now always demanding more pets and chin scratches! He seems to be okay with other cats. Location and hours
The Animal Services Centre is located 4680 Thickson Rd. N., and we are open Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Our office is closed on Sundays and Statutory Holidays.
Adoption fees
Adoption fees for cats and dogs include spaying or neutering, vaccination and a one-year animal licence. All fees are subject to HST:
- $250 for a kitten (under one year)
- $150 for a cat
- $500 for a puppy (under one year)
- $309.74 for a dog
- $50 for all other animals
Choosing the right pet for your family
Adopting an animal is a long-term commitment. Before deciding to adopt, think about what you and your family are looking for in a pet. Every breed has unique characteristics and each individual pet is different. Here are some questions to consider with your household:
- Why do I want a pet?
- What characteristics do I want my pet to have?
- How much time will I need to spend caring for my pet?
- How much of my income can I spend on a pet?
- Am I willing to work patiently to train a pet?
The cost of owning a pet
Ensure you are prepared to take on these expenses when you submit an application to adopt a pet:
- Annual vaccinations, check-ups and veterinary care
- Obedience classes
- Flea control, deworming and grooming
- Boarding
- Food and treats
- Other supplies, including toys, beds and litter
Six reasons to adopt an adult cat

An adult cat's personality has already developed, so you'll know if he or she is a good fit for your family.
- Adult cats have longer attention spans which makes them easier to train than kittens.
- Adult cats are often already litter trained and are less likely to forget where the box is.
- Adult cats are often content to just relax in your company, unlike kittens, who may get into mischief.
- Adult cats often know that scratching posts (not furniture) are for scratching and toys (not hands or feet) are for biting.
- Adult cats are the hardest to find homes for, so when you adopt a mature cat, you're saving a life.
