Help us build a litter free community! Roadside litter impacts the environment and creates a bad image for the Town of Whitby. Make a difference by joining our Adopt-a-Road program.
Contact us if you'd like to get involved and help clean up our community. If you sign up for a two-year term, we'll put up signs at each end of the adopted section of road to recognize your group.
If you're over the age of 13, you can participate in the program. This is a great way for your community organization, club or business to give back to the community. We also encourage environmentally conscious individuals to get involved.
You'll get to adopt a section of road, up to 2 km in length. Depending on your preference:
Although there are a lot of streets in Town, safety concerns may limit the streets available for adoption. Once you join adopt a road, you'll be responsible for cleaning the section of road at least three times each year.
Supplies |
We'll provide each volunteer group with a tool kit of supplies to help support the clean up. The tool kit includes:

We would like to thank Swish Maintenance for their generous donation of clear bags and latex gloves to the Adopt-a-Road Program. |
Collection of litter |
The Town will collect and dispose of all litter and recyclables collected as part of the program. |
We are dedicated to providing a clean and safe community for residents and visitors alike. The Adopt-a-Program helps in promoting a positive image of the Town and encourages the community to get engaged with responsible citizenship.
We provide routine maintenance on roads and in parks through the year, but it is often not enough. We would like to thank all of our volunteers for their support in this initiative.
