Community Connection is a non-profit organization that provides affordable recreation, leisure and special interest programs for all ages. Community Connection works with the Town of Whitby and the Durham District School Board to offer a wide variety of evening programs, which include sports (such as popular adult volleyball leagues), karate, dance, drama, music, language, science and art.
During the summer Community Connection offers Day Camp, Kinder Camp and the Counsellor in Training (CIT) Program at our John Dryden P.S. location.
The organization uses local school facilities to host programming and all profits are invested back into schools, projects, initiatives and special events in the community.
Please subscribe to this page and watch our news and notices for updates on when and how to register for Community Connection programs in the future.
Please contact us for an accessible version of our Community Connection Instructor Employment document, which outlines which programs are taking new instructors and eligibility requirements.
You can make a valuable contribution to your community by serving on the volunteer Community Connection Executive Committee. Meetings are generally held the last Thursday of every month at 7:15 p.m. at the McKinney Centre. The committee does not meet in July and August.
Students can work toward completing their 40 hours of volunteer service by volunteering in a Community Connection session, while picking up valuable skills along the way. If you are interested in applying to be a volunteer, please email us your résumé, interests, skills and chosen sessions. Please apply well in advance of each session as spaces are limited.
