The Town of Whitby is celebrating Canada Day a bit differently this year with free, family-friendly events and activities being held in the lead up to July 1, 2020.
Starting today, Wednesday, June 17, Whitby residents and local businesses can show off their community spirit by painting the Town red, white and Canadian during the Town’s Canada Day Decorating Contest. To join in on the fun, snap a photo of your Canadian-themed décor and share it on social media, tagging @TownOfWhitby on Twitter or Facebook and using the hashtag #whitbycanadaday.
Contest participants have the chance to win one of four prize packs valued at $200 each, including gift cards to support local restaurants and shops and more. The winners will be selected on July 3, 2020. For the full contest details and rules, visit whitby.ca/canadaday.
Fire up the grill and try out delicious summer recipes crafted by local chefs from Whitby’s favourite restaurants, including the Food and Art Café, Bistro 67’ and more. Watch for more recipes to be posted online starting June 22 at whitby.ca/canadaday. Residents are also encouraged to share their own favourite barbecue recipes by tagging @TownofWhitby on Facebook and Twitter and using the hashtag #whitbycanadaday.
