At the Town of Whitby’s September 25 Committee of the Whole meeting, Council voted to defer a motion on an Interim Control By-law for new low-barrier shelters and/or transitional housing until October 30. An agreement between the Town of Whitby and the Region of Durham for the operation of 1635 Dundas is now being developed. The purpose of the proposed agreement is to create a framework for how the Region will work in good faith with the Town and members of the community to ensure engagement on this project and address concerns raised by residents.
On October 3, the Region of Durham will hold their next 1635 Dundas Community Engagement Session. Learn more about this session here.
The Town’s October 10 Special Council Meeting will follow a similar format and topics to be discussed as the Region of Durham’s Community Engagement Session. To view the agenda, visit whitby.ca/councilcalendar or email clerk@whitby.ca.
