Whitby residents see local parks, green spaces, and trails as one of the most important things that make the town unique (source: Community Strategic Plan engagement). The town currently has 128 parks and 94 unique playgrounds for residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy – and is now adding more parks to the list for residents of all ages and abilities to enjoy!

Des Newman WhitBEE Park - 105 Des Newman Boulevard

Includes:

• A fitness area (donated by Mattamy Homes)
• An irrigated and lit multi-purpose field
• A multi-skills court with an additional basketball net, also equipped for ball hockey
• A half-court basketball
• Four lit pickleball courts with a practice board for both tennis and pickleball
• Bee-themed senior and junior playground areas
• A fun ball net
• A sand play area
• A splash pad area
• A honeycomb-inspired hexagon-shaped shade shelter
• A walking trail with bench rest areas
• Shade trees
• Native plantings for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators.

The multi-purpose field will remain closed until the sod is given time to establish.

Lynde Creek Park - 125 Coronation Road

Includes:

• An irrigated and lit soccer field
• Sports field lighting
• A multi-skills court equipped for ball hockey and basketball
• A playground with rubberized surfacing
• A sand play area
• A butterfly-themed splash pad
• A shade shelter
• An open lawn area
• A fitness/parkour area
• A walking trail with bench rest areas
• Shade trees
• Native plantings for bees, butterflies, and other pollinators. 

Chelsea Hill Park - 3825A Coronation Road

Includes:

• A playground with engineered wood fibre surfacing
• A sand play area
• A shade shelter
• Two tennis courts
• A walking trail with bench rest areas
• Shade trees

Thank you to the nearly 1,500 residents who took the time to provide their valuable feedback on the proposed designs of these three parks including the nearly 700 who helped to name Des Newman WhitBEE Park.
