Does your family enjoy rollerblading, or cycling on Whitby’s trails? Have you ever walked to a corner store or to school? Do you go cross-country skiing or running for fun? If you answered yes to any of these questions, you are participating in active transportation. Active transportation is human-powered mobility.
Now through March 15, residents are invited to register for Connect Whitby to view and comment on the Town’s draft Active Transportation Plan (ATP) during a virtual community commenting period.
Feedback collected may be incorporated into the Active Transportation Plan prior to it being presented to Council for final consideration and approval. The ATP helps the Town plan for transportation options including sidewalks, multi-use paths, trails, bike lanes, cycling routes and more.

The Active Transportation Plan is a comprehensive forward looking plan which plans for transportation options and outlines the Town's short, medium and long term strategy for walking, cycling, and other forms of active transportation.
The Town has been seeking input on the ATP from the community since 2017 to help inform the future of Active Transportation in the Town. Consultation has taken place at a number of Town events, public information sessions/open houses as well as focused workshops for seniors, women and families.
