With the holidays approaching, here’s a look at what Town amenities and services are open or closed.

Holiday Service Changes

In-person front counter services at Town Hall, the Garden Street Branch, and the Operations Centre will be unavailable from Monday, December 23, to Friday, December 27. Phone and email services will be available on Monday, December 23 and Friday, December 27 at these locations.

Recreation Facilities

The Whitby Civic Recreation Complex will be open until 12 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24. All other Town recreation facilities will be closed on December 24, reopening on Friday, December 27.

Whitby Public Library

All Whitby Public Library locations will be closed on Tuesday, December 24, reopening on Friday, December 27. Book returns remain open. Visit whitbylibrary.ca for access to digital content and program information.

New Year’s Facility Closures

• On Tuesday, December 31, the Whitby Civic Recreation Complex will close at 12 p.m., the Iroquois Park Sports Centre will close at 4 p.m., and the Brooklin Community Centre and Library will remain open until 5 p.m.
• All Town Facilities and the Whitby Public Library will be closed on Wednesday, January 1

Waste Collection

Due to the holidays, there will be no waste collection service on Wednesday, December 25, and Wednesday, January 1.

• Collections on Monday, December 23, Tuesday, December 24, Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31 will remain unchanged.
• Collections scheduled for December 25, 26, and 27 and January 1, 2, and 3 will be bumped by one day from your regular pick-up day.

Christmas Tree Collection

Christmas Trees will be collected in blue collection areas from January 13 to 18 and yellow collection areas from January 20 to 25. Please clean natural Christmas trees of any tinsel, decorations, wire, stands or bags, and cut trees longer than 3 metres (10 feet) in half. The Town unfortunately can’t collect trees that are frozen in snowbanks.
