Reminder: Interim Tax Billing for 2020 Due February 24
The Town would like to remind residents that the first instalment of the 2020 Interim Tax Billing is due on Monday, February 24, 2020. This billing applies to all residential, farmland, pipeline and managed forest properties.
The interim tax bills were mailed to property owners the last week of January 2020. If you did not receive a tax bill and you are responsible for payment, please contact the Tax Division at 905.430.4304 or 905.668.5803 to obtain the necessary information.
Please note that payments not received by Monday, February 24, 2020 are subject to a penalty charge of 1.25 per cent on the first day of default and the first day of each calendar month so long as non-payment continues.
Payment can be made in the following ways:
- By pre-authorized payment plan: visit whitby.ca or call Town Hall at the numbers above for more information.
- By internet or telephone banking: inquire at your financial institution. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure the correct information, including roll number, is used for these transactions. The Town is not responsible for correcting payment errors made by the taxpayer.
- At participating financial institutions: a payment stub is required if paying at a financial institution. Please remember to allow sufficient time for processing between the bank and Town Hall to avoid any inconvenience.
- By mail: address payment to the Town of Whitby, Tax Division, 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, L1N 2M8. When mailing payment, the taxpayer assumes responsibility for late arrival of payment and any penalty/interest charges that may apply. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.
- In person: visit Town Hall located at 575 Rossland Road East, Whitby, Ontario, to pay in person by cash, cheque or debit only. The tax bill must be brought in so that we can stamp the back of the bill as an official receipt. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.
- After hours ‘outside’ mail slot at the above address: Do not deposit cash. Post-dated cheques are acceptable.
If paying by cheque, please make cheque payable to the Town of Whitby and write the property tax roll number(s) on the front of the cheque. All cheques that are not honoured by a financial institution, for any reason, will be subject to an administration fee.
Note: All payments must be in Canadian funds and drawn from a Canadian Financial Institution.
