I personally want to thank all of our local hydro workers for their efforts in restoring power to thousands of homes in Whitby and the entire Region of Durham since Saturday’s storm that devastated so many. While many residents have had their power restored, I know that our partners at Elexicon are working around the clock to get everyone back up and running. If you are still without power, all Town recreational facilities are open and available during business hours.  

I also want to thank all residents of Whitby for your patience, but more so for the efforts you have made in helping each other. Friends and neighbours helping those with downed trees or who were without power for several days, or are still without power – we are truly a community that cares.

To our Whitby Fire and Operations crews, thank you for your hard work and continued efforts to respond to calls of downed trees quickly and efficiently. I know that this work will continue for many months to come as we work to help clean up our Town.

Please continue to check in on those without power as we work through this situation together.
