Station No. 3 is the downtown’s biggest development in decades
Whitby Mayor Elizabeth Roy and Members of Council are celebrating the unveiling of a new condo community in downtown Whitby.
On Friday, Brookfield Residential hosted a ribbon cutting for Station No. 3, a six-storey, mixed-use condominium at the corner of Brock and Colborne Streets.
The project is the biggest development to come to downtown Whitby in more than 30 years.
“We have waited a long time for this milestone,” Roy says. “Discussions around repurposing the fire hall site go back decades. It’s incredible to see this project taking shape and to look ahead to the positive impact this will have on our downtown.”
Station No. 3 will feature 160 residential units and 10,000 square feet of retail space along Brock Street. The project is currently under construction and is expected to be complete before the end of 2024.
The name is inspired by Firehall No. 3, which was previously located on the site before being decommissioned.
“I want to thank Brookfield Residential for working with the Town of Whitby to repurpose this site and invest in our downtown,” Roy says. “We have recently seen an increase in the number of new businesses opening in the downtown and Station No. 3 will help us continue the momentum.”
Station No. 3 is located close to amenities like restaurants, boutique shops, parks, trails and the waterfront as well as offering commuter access to Hwy. 401, Hwy. 412 and the Whitby GO Station.
