In light of the upcoming Christmas holidays and today’s announcement by the Ontario government, Mayor Mitchell is urging residents to continue to follow recommended public health measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

The following statement is being issued on behalf of Mayor Mitchell:

“The best gift you can give this year is to follow public health measures: stay home. Stay 2 metres apart when possible. If you cannot distance – wear a mask. Practice good hand hygiene. Avoid travelling and visiting other homes. Take time to connect virtually with loved ones. Spend time outdoors. Laugh. Turn off the news. Be grateful for all we have and all we share. Make a donation to help someone less fortunate. Drop-off toys and non-perishable food items at any Whitby Fire or Durham police station. Help our local businesses by shopping local. And have yourself a safe, happy and healthy holiday season.”
