Proposed 2021 Budget Now Available

The Town of Whitby’s proposed 2021 Budget is now available online.

The 2021 Budget Highlights publication, which features the Town’s key accomplishments in 2020 and top priorities for 2021, is also available online.

The proposed budget reflects Council’s approval of a budget target of 0.55 per cent increase (or $2.57 per month for the average residential property*) on the total residential bill for Town services. This is a one-time measure that prioritizes minimizing financial impact on the community, while protecting and maintaining the delivery of the essential services Whitby residents and businesses rely on.

As an important part of the budget process, residents are reminded of the following upcoming opportunities to provide feedback virtually on the proposed budget:

Virtual 2021 Budget Forum

When: open now through February 14, 2021

Where: online at connectwhitby.ca/2021budget

What: Residents can go online and share their thoughts and feedback on the budget at any time that is convenient for them.

Virtual Budget Public Meeting

When: Monday, February 8, 2021, 7 p.m.

Where: tune in at whitby.ca/livestream

What: Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the proposed 2021 Budget prior to Council consideration and approval on Thursday, February 25. Residents interested in speaking through WebEx at the Budget Public Meeting must register with the Town Clerk by 12 p.m. the day of the meeting (Monday, February 8). Delegation Forms are available online at whitby.ca/delegation.

Special Council Meeting (final approval of the proposed 2021 Budget)

When: Thursday, February 25, 2021, 7 p.m. 

Where: tune in at whitby.ca/livestream

What: Residents interested in speaking through WebEx at the Special Council Meeting must register with the Town Clerk by 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 – the day prior to the meeting. Delegation Forms are available online at whitby.ca/delegation.
