The Town of Whitby would like to remind residents that, in addition to the Town’s three-hour on-street parking restriction, the seasonal restriction on all on-street parking between November 1 and April 15 will soon be in effect.
The restriction, which begins this Sunday, prohibits parking on all municipal roads between the hours of 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. Residents who park on residential streets during the hours of the ban may be issued a parking ticket.
The annual seasonal restriction is in place to prepare for winter conditions and also enable snow plow operators to clear away ice and snow quickly and easily during the overnight hours when there is less traffic and impact on drivers.
On occasion, residents may have special circumstances (driveway repairs, etc.) that require a vehicle to be parked on the street during the hours of the ban. In such events, residents may apply online for a short-term parking permit. Please be aware temporary street registrations may become unavailable in the case of a winter event.
As a reminder, overnight parking is not permitted in any municipal parking lot or at any Town facilities including McKinney Centre, Brooklin Community Centre and Library and Whitby Civic Recreation Complex.
Downtown Parking Supports
All on-street and municipal lot parking in Downtown Whitby and Downtown Brooklin will continue to be free for the remainder of the year as part of the Town’s efforts to support local businesses and shopping during this time.
The Town will also continue to offer 15-minute parking at more than 20 of its metered on-street parking locations in Downtown Whitby to help support safe curbside pick-up and delivery. The two-hour maximum applies to all other on-street meter parking.
