The Town of Whitby is pleased to announce the appointment of Fuwing Wong, as the new Commissioner of Financial Services and Treasurer, effective December 7.

As a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified General Accountant (CGA) with more than 25 years in finance, in both the public and private sectors, Mr. Wong adds a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the Town’s senior leadership team.

Joining the Town from his recent position as Chief Financial Officer, Director of Finance for the Town of Caledon, Mr. Wong brings an established understanding of municipal finance and corporate leadership experience. Mr. Wong is a committee member on the Government Finance Officers Association’s (GFOA) Committee on Canadian Issues and previously served as Chair of the Peel Climate Change Partnership (PCCP).

His skill set and proven leadership qualities will help ensure the Town’s commitment to responsible fiscal management continues.

Members of Council and staff are pleased to welcome Mr. Wong to the Town. They would also like to thank outgoing Corporate Services Commissioner and Treasurer, Ken Nix, for his 20 plus years of exceptional service, leadership and commitment.
