Today, Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced COVID-19 relief funding for Ontario municipalities, including the Town of Whitby. In follow up to this announcement, Mayor Don Mitchell has issued the following statement:

“The Town of Whitby is pleased to today receive a $2.75 million funding commitment from our federal and provincial partners. This funding will help to offset the local cost impacts of COVID-19 on essential service delivery to our community. We look forward to our continued collaboration, as we work together through this pandemic and come out stronger.”

This one-time assistance comes from $4 billion earmarked for Ontario municipalities as part of the federal-provincial Safe Restart Agreement.
