Yesterday, May 14, the Ontario government announced that the first stage of its plan to reopen the province will begin on Tuesday, May 19, 2020.
The health and well-being of residents and staff remain the Town of Whitby’s top priority. At this time, heading into the Victoria Day long weekend, just a reminder that all municipal park amenities and facilities remain closed to the public by order of the Province. Municipal playgrounds also remain closed.
The only exception to this is the Port Whitby Marina and public boat ramp, which will reopen to boaters this Saturday. When outdoors or using trails, remember to do your part to stay apart by maintaining a distance of at least two metres (or six feet) between yourself and any person living outside of your household.
The Town is continuing to review this week’s updates from the Ontario government to assess their local impact, as well as the time needed to safely implement any reopenings. The Town thanks residents for their patience during this time.
