A total of eight firefighters from Whitby Fire, along with eight firefighters from across Durham Region, completed water rescue training at the Whitby waterfront to keep up to date on the latest emergency services techniques.
Whitby Fire and Emergency Services is completing water rescue training to ensure we are ready to respond in any situation. Durham firefighters completed a series of scenarios including a swim test, rope test, row and go rescue, and more to refresh their water rescue skills. A reminder, if you are heading out on the water, make sure you have the required knowledge and equipment to ensure the safety of yourself and your family.
