Whitby is getting transformed by approximately 100,000 twinkling lights this holiday season. Starting November 27 through mid-January residents can experience a magical winter wonderland by visiting Grass Park, Celebration Square and Whitby Civic Park. Glowing art and interactive light installations will be on display as Whitby Lights the Night. Visitors to Whitby’s two downtown cores will notice a winter festival of lights and stars lining the streets.
We want to see your festive lights display. Residents and businesses are encouraged to embrace their inner Griswold and compete in the Town’s first annual Community Lights Competition, powered by Elexicon. Once the contest closes on Wednesday, December 16, an online map will be available for residents to plan their own Whitby holiday lights tour to experience the luminous displays.
To enter participants must register, take a photo of their holiday lights display and share it to Facebook or Twitter tagging Town of Whitby (@TownofWhitby) using the hashtag #whitbylightscompetition.
“The holiday season is a special time for our residents,” said Mayor Don Mitchell. “While our traditional Town events are on hold this year due to the pandemic, I encourage residents to enjoy the Whitby Lights the Night experience and look forward to seeing your festive displays as part of our Community Lights Competition.”
