Now through December 6, 2024
Resurfacing completed on 13 streets which included the removal of base and top asphalt, some asbestos, curb and sidewalk repairs, new base and top asphalt, driveway and sod restoration. Remaining work at Fire Station 2 will be done in Spring/ Summer 2025 and include asphalt removal (may contain asbestos), curb, sidewalk installation and new asphalt.
Please note the above urban road reconstruction projects (project T-501-2024) have been identified as roads that contain asbestos. Asbestos was a popular material widely used in asphalt mixes until the early 1980s to improve the performance of the asphalt. With the below safety precautions in place, the risk of exposure to asbestos for residents, workers, and bystanders is low.
Residents may also notice those dealing directly with the asphalt material wearing personal protective equipment as a precaution.
Residents who live in or frequent the area where work will be undertaken should avoid the immediate work site during the asphalt removal process.
