Following the announcement about the successful three-year agreement between the Town of Whitby and CUPE Local 53 Full-Time, and the reopening of recreational facilities and programs, starting today, the Town is bringing back more programs and services for both residents and businesses.
The Whitby Animal Services Centre, located at 4680 Thickson Road North, is now open. All services including animal care, education, enforcement, and adoption have resumed. Animal Licensing on behalf of the Town of continues through Docupet.
All by-law enforcement including parking enforcement continues. Effective today, parking tickets can be paid in person as well as online. Residents are reminded now through April 15th, the Town has a restriction on all on-street overnight parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. This is in place to help snow-plow operators clear away ice and snow quickly and easily at a time when there is less traffic and impact on drivers.
Council and Committee Meetings have resumed in person. The next Regular Council meeting takes place on Monday, November 27 in Council Chambers at Town Hall. Residents can also watch meetings live at whitby.ca/LiveStream. For information on upcoming meetings, visit whitby.ca/CouncilCalendar.
The review and approval of planning applications has resumed. Before you submit a planning and development application, please book a pre-consultation meeting.
We're now accepting building permit applications for new construction and renovation projects. If you have a building permit that was put on hold, it will be reviewed shortly. Remember to complete the Building Inspection Request form to schedule an inspection.
Marriage licences are available again. You can begin the licence process online and book an appointment to complete the licensing process.
Residents are reminded regular curbside pickup of garbage, green bin organics, and yard waste has resumed following the regular waste collection schedule, starting with Thursday area eight (see page two of the Waste Collection Calendar Guide). The garbage bag limit has been increased from four to six bags for the remainder of 2023.
